Introduction to Pacific Northwest Bioregional Herbalism

In this class we will dive into "bioregionalism" as a guiding framework for an herbal practice.

Intro to PNW Bioregional Herbalism is a lecture-style class that dives deep into the foundations of an herbal practice firmly rooted in the Northwest. Together, we will discuss guiding principles of bioregionalism, sustainability & ethics, tools of the practice, and materia medica (in-depth plant profiles of a select number of medicinal plants here in the PNW).

Spring Community Nature Walk
with Acknowledge Wellness

Join us in Discovery Park in Seattle, WA for one of our beloved seasonal nature walks, guided by TCM doctor Carolyn Egan (Acknowledge Wellness LLC) and bioregional herbalist Marika Clymer (The Woodsman’s Daughter)!

Together we will go on a walk through Discovery Park to learn about seasonal plants, their medicinal properties, and the ecological diversity at the park.

Herbal Preparations for Beginners:
Liquid Extracts

This is an entry-level herbalism class to teach the basics of liquid plant extractions. Together, we will learn about both alcohol and non-alcohol based extractions. Learn the basics of formulating and crafting teas, infusions, decoctions, tinctures, glycerites, and oxymels! Students will get to formulate, craft, and take home their very own tincture! (or N/A extract)

Golden Trout Wilderness, Sierra Mountains, CA

Meadowquest: Ecological Explorations in the Golden Trout Wilderness

Join biologist Patrice Ringelstein and bioregional herbalist Marika Clymer for a weeklong nature camp in the Golden Trout Wilderness. We will deepen the connection to our bodies, our communities, and the land through exploration of the ecology of the Sierra Nevada. The trip will begin and end with a horseback ride into a cozy camp at the edge of Big Whitney Meadow, and we’ll spend the rest of our trip hiking, eating nourishing meals, and learning together.

Introduction to
Pacific Northwest Wildcrafting

Intro to PNW Wildcrafting is a class for herbalists of all skill levels - from the herbal curious to experienced practitioners; if you're interested in expanding your herbal practice by deepening your relationship with the land, this class is for you!

This class is a lecture-style class, where we will dive into frameworks that help us cultivate an intentional, respectful relationship with our environment and our wild plants & fungi. This is a great companion to our seasonal community nature walks, providing deep frameworks and tools that can be applied in the field!

Herbal Remedies for Fall & Winter

In this entry-level herbalism class, we will learn basic herbal preparations to support the body through Fall & Winter. We will do a deep dive into the anatomy of our immune system, herbal therapeutics for maintaining strong immunity, responding to illness, and recovery. The class will include a discussion on a variety of plants & mushrooms to support our health. Students will get to craft and take home their own elderberry syrup!
